Bold, simple fonts usually translate best into threads. Avoid small, delicate fonts or complicated script fonts when designing embroidered logos. When the text is too small, digitizing software converts the letters into a simple continuous stitch, often making the text unreadable on fabric.
Standard, easy-to-read sans-serif fonts such as Arial, Helvetica and Myriad Pro provide sharp lines and clean edges. Keep your font size above 36 pt and your text height above 0.25″ to ensure your logo remains clear and readable after it is stitched.

Printful’s unlimited color embroidery provides smooth color transitions on select products. If you don’t use this option, avoid full color gradients and stick to solid blocks of color.

For unlimited color embroidery there must be gradient elements at least 0.8 inches wide so that the machine has enough space to create smooth color transitions. Smaller elements force digitizing software to use solid colors or run stitches, which can disrupt your design.
Unlimited color embroidery uses the same standard digitization costs as standard embroidery.
Type of fabric
Matching your logo with the right fabric type is just as important as setting up your print file. Heavyweight materials such as cotton twill, canvas bags and structured hats hold stitches securely and support complex embroidered logos.
If you are using delicate fabrics, high stitch counts can cause puckering when you pull them into an embroidery hoop. For special materials such as faux leather, use a lower stitch density and clean the outer lines so that the needle does not damage the surface.

Select the placement for your logo in the Design Maker. Open the Uploads tab in the menu on the left to upload your high-resolution PNG or PDF design file. Don’t have a logo design yet? Browse graphic elements in Clip art or Fast designs for ready-made designs.
You will immediately see a preview of your item, where you can select thread colors, adjust the size and place your design within the designated embroidery area.
3. Save the template
Click Save template once your design looks good. You can view, edit or adjust your saved designs at any time via the My products tab in your Printful dashboard. When you’re ready to sell, add the item directly to your online store from this tab.
